This year, we thought of celebrating Tihar by organizing a Deusi-Bhailo program at Naya Nepal Apanga Samaj, Old Baneshwor. We primarily went there and asked about their needs. They asked for food and we thought of supplying their rason with the money we collect by playing Deusi-Bhailo within ourselves and the kids residing at the Center.
Few glimpses.

Thank you all who could come in person to celebrate Deusi-Bhailo with the children at Naya Nepal Apanga Samaj. Those who were willing to come to the venue, but could not make it, we are always grateful to your kind hearts. Thank you all for making this celebration successful.
As Tihar, the festival of lights is celebrated as the most cherishable festival for all Nepalese, now we have aimed at conserving this celebration into some nobel deeds as well. So, we are celebrating this years Tihar with the children of Naya Nepal Orphanage home, where children play Deusi for us and we will be providing them food, sweets etc as bheti from the sum we collect within ourselves at the venue. We would like to request all our friends to attend the Deusi Bhailo programme at Naya Nepal Ophanage Home and enjoy Tihar with Children living there and ourselves.
On 27th September, 2014 (Ashwin 11, 2071) We thought of organizing a Dashain get together program with #tfcians and at the mean time organise #Mission16 to support Conflict Victim and Disable Center (CVDC) located at Sankhu with food items.
CVDC is run by Mr. Yubaraj Thapa, a physically challenged but extremely determined and socially responsible Chairman. CVDC now holds 21 Children along with an elderly lady, all affected by Cerebral Palsy and other physical disorders.
In the donation handover program, children and the chairman thanked us with their precious smiles. We promised them to help however possible during further occasions when running the center gets critical regarding logistics and food. Mr. Thapa explained he began collecting such children straight from streets where they were left on streets to die.
In addition, police brings such children to the center too. He explained more about a child who was chained for 6 years in Chitwan has now improved a lot and acts very decent with regular care and love in the center. We would like to express our gratitude to such an amazing man with such great heart to help kids with such severe mental and physical disorders.
This was our way of celebrating #Dashain and We all are very happy that we could share our moments with the children at CVDC.

On May 14, 2014, to mark Buddha Jayanti, We conducted a donation handover programme to a school at remote village in Bhotsippa - 09, Majhigaaun in Sindhupalchowk district established and maintained by youths involved in Educating Nepal (EN). We managed to donate few of the following donations which we named it #Mission14 We would like to thank you all the regular donors and the following donations received on spot as mentioned below.
The cash donation will be utilized to build the school building for the school which will be later run by the local resources thereafter, a youth volunteer in EN, Mr. Aashish Ghimire explained. Youths at EN are working to their level best to teach children at remote Majhi Gaaun. You can also help their noble efforts by helping them in any means including 'sponsor a smile'
Today, We along with Mr. Sameer Mani Dixit went to Saphalta Shikshya Sadan (SSS) to handover the final amount of NRs 1,20,000 committed to pay for the teachers' salary teaching at SSS for a year. This was the fourth trimester's amount NRs 30,000 payment scheme.
Mr. Dixit handing over the cheque to Mr. Rai
It is so good to see that Mr. Raj Kumar Rai and Uma Gurung's dream of creating a better home for HIV infected children have been transformed so well and is doing great towards achieving their dream. They have now begun the construction of school rooms made of bamboo in the near by land. Mr. Rai also explained that they will be teaching underprivileged children from nearby communities if they wish to study in their school, all free of cost. Hats off to the inspiration he carries on.
Mr. Raj Kumar Rai, founder chairman, SSS
We again would like to thank Mr. Sameer M. Dixit and Mrs. Lonim P. Dixit for supporting SSS for a year regarding the salary to the teachers there. You have been a true inspiration to people willing to support their societies however they can.
Please find details of the donation to SSS by Mr. Dixit here.
'Educating Nepal' established by few of generous youths in our society have been working hard to make under privileged people aware about their capabilities and helping them to make their children educated in remote villages in Nepal, now concentrated in Majhi Gaaun, a remote village in Sindhupalchok district. EN believes Effective learning starts with a favorable learning
environment and is dedicated to create a similar positive environment to the deprived children in Majhi Gaaun with a local school completely run by the local resources available then.
This blog here is posted here to let you know that they are in need of our love and support. We are a group of different individuals of various professions, if we could be a little help to their dedication, that could be a great motivation towards the dedicated youths. If you are impressed with the idea, we could conduct a mission to serve the children with their basic needs for education in near future too. You can also sponsor a pupil a year whose total cost a year would be NRs 6000 per pupil as NRs 500 per month is the unit cost for a child. We are looking forward to hear from you soon.

Respected
Sir,
Educating
Nepal is pleased to submit this request for your review. We look forward to
your cooperation in building the community of Jholunge Basti, Majhi Gaun,
Bhotsippa-9, Sindupalchowk.
Educating
Nepal is a youth-led non-government organization dedicated to making the
children from every corner of Nepal literate, learned and wise. The
organization started in 2009, when three young people with a noble initiative
started teaching a few kids from Majhi Gaun, Sindhupalchowk. The numbers
slowly increased and a school was founded in 2010. Educating Nepal was formally
registered as an NGO on December 21, 2012.
We
at Educating Nepal believe that every child has the right to free education. To
be able to expand one’s knowledge and become an independent, responsible and a
successful citizen is every Nepali’s birthright. We want to make this dream
come true because we care about them. We want the children, regardless of
caste, creed or wealth to get equal treatment. We want the children to be
trained in all aspects of hygiene, national and global awareness as well as
information technology.
Our
initial requirements are stable classrooms to provide a good learning
environment, hostel facilities for volunteers to make learning smooth and as
many educational materials as possible. For this, we have allocated a total fund
of Rs 3 million. The immediate need is a concrete building for which budget of Rs
1.5 million has been allocated and we have collected Rs 750,000
so far.The
number of students is steadily growing and this has only been possible through
generosity of people like you.
Your
support in this initiative will be highly appreciated. You are one driving
catalyst to a required change in Nepal.
Warm
Regards,
………………………….
Aashish Ghimire

Vision
We envision a prosperous nation with an
all-round development in areas such as health, wealth and environment made
possible by formal, non-formal and informal education, and through mass
participation of youths who are impelled in their own right to conceive
righteously the significance of philanthropy and social responsibility.
Mission
Statement
Educating Nepal is
committed to bringing about social reforms primarily by educating
children—especially the underprivileged, not only the children with the ability
to read and write, but those with the ability to have an open mind and to
acquire the right skills to move forward.
Objectives
We thrive on the
following three aspects of education for the underprivileged children and the
community as a whole
Education
ØAcademic
Curriculum
ØValue
Education
ØIT
Education
With the following
objectives, we plan to meet our goal
·To initiate schools in the remote areas
of Nepal, and to provide free quality education for the underprivileged and
deprived children of Nepal, especially of the backward communities;
·To help derive a curriculum prioritizing value education ;
·To provide IT training and to take such
a technology to remote areas of Nepal;
·To offer financial or technical support
to the public or community schools of Nepal;
·To utilize local resource and labor to
provide free education to the children;
· To provide health and sanitation education,
environmental education, and employment-oriented skills and education as part
of our mission of educating Nepal; and to conduct relevant awareness programs;
·To build auxiliary infrastructure like a
library to facilitate learning; and
·To conduct various fund raising and
awareness programs.
The
need
Pictures, stories, news
often speak of the reality of Nepal. At one side, we see how simplicity is
actually blissful; but we also see the harsh reality underneath.
The villages of Nepal
do not have all the facilities that the modern world provides. It lacks all the
basic infrastructure needs. And in this process, the innocent faces are also
affected. They don’t have access to the most basic form of education. There may be a school founded but there are
no proper classrooms. There are children who think that computer is an alien
creature while kids in other parts demand for an ipad. There may be a school
but no one teaches them the right thing. Apart from that, the children
themselves are lost in taking care of household chores that their basic right
gets lost somewhere. The consequences of this could just be a sad photograph
for now. But in the long run, we just lose invaluable resources that could
develop our country. In addition, where even the well educated people are
easily getting involved in disgraceful activities, malfeasance or simply not
utilizing knowledge in day to day life and recurrently falling into ethical
traps, our value education campaign is apt to rejuvenate the young minds with
proper conscience exhorted by resolute sense of morality.
This is a harsh reality
that we must pay heed now before we lose another batch of precious human
resource. And it’s time we do something from our part and hope for a better
tomorrow. We are but a drop in the ocean. Why not make that drop a significant
one?
The
solution
"Life’s most
persistent and urgent question is, what are you doing for others?"
Martin Luther King
rightly said it. The solution is to look out for opportunities to do things for
others. The solution now lies in education. Educating Nepal is seeking out
opportunities to solve this crucial problem.
The solution lies in
raising funds more funds, marketing ourselves so we can form a good base. A good foundation needs a lot of support from
notable people and organization. You are a part of us and our solution.
The solution lies in
bringing up new ideas to ensure that the community is sustainable. The solution
lies in giving what you have. It can be anything in cash, kind or service. You
can help in terms of Educational resources, human resource, ideas, and
opportunities to help us grow. You will be doing a lot this way.
Project
Description
EN
currently requires funding to develop and grow itself as a stronger entity. The
team is very energetic to take a more stable start. Effective learning starts
with a favorable learning environment. The initial focus of Educating Nepal is
to develop an environment favorable to both students and teachers. Therefore,
our project mostly focuses on laying a strong foundation.
As our start-up project, we are
limited to Majhi Gaun. Majhi Gaun is translated literally as the
village of fishermen. Children had been struggling to go to school because of
two major difficulties, one being the distance and the other social
issues. The nearest school was a two
hour walk which is almost impossible for an eight year old. Furthermore, the particular school is
operated by Brahmins, a supposedly higher caste. This futile social issue further reduces
their chances of attending school due to the limitations of caste system.
Under the watchful guidance of
EN, the number of student has steadily increased and Suryodaya Prathamik School was formally registered as a community
school in 2010, which is providing quality education to 120 students. The
classrooms in there are built
with a temporary wooden design using local resources. The current project is
aimed at building a more stable framework and classrooms. A hostel facility is
also needed for the incoming volunteers and teachers as a good lodging facility
will increase the flow of full time teachers. Thus, eventually take us nearer
to our goal.
Apart from that, we are also keen
on developing educational resources like computers, books, notebooks or any
sort of educational materials. We want to build an IT lab in the long run to
make information and knowledge more accessible. We at Education Nepal aim to go
where children do not have access to proper education.
Target
Market and Geographical area
Education for all is
our mantra. Our target is anywhere where education and awareness are not
available.
We at Education Nepal
aim to go where children do not have access to proper education. However, as
our startup project, we are limited to Majhi Gaun. Majhi Gaun is
translated literally as the village of fishermen. Children have been struggling
to go to school because of two major difficulties, one being the distance and
the other social issues. The nearest
school is a two hour walk which is almost impossible for an eight year
old. Furthermore, the particular school
is operated by Brahmins, a supposedly higher caste. This futile social issue further reduces
their chances of attending school due to the limitations of caste system.
We want to create a
model system there and start exploring other areas to provide our service.
To be more specific, we
are now targeted in Majhi Gaun in Sindhupalchowk district. Our target
population is 65 households with 150 children.
Description
of Organization
Educating Nepal is a
youth-led non-governmental organization. It is a tax-exempted entity,
registered under Organization Registration Act 2034, section(4) and affiliated
to Social Welfare Council under section 14 of Social Welfare Act 2049 working
towards educating underprivileged and deprived children free of cost, thereby
enabling them to a better tomorrow. It is a team of energetic youths aspiring
to contribute something for the country’s future.
Educating Nepal is an initiative
that started in 2009 and was formally registered as a non government organization
on December 21, 2012. The organization is focused on providing a platform for
over all development of children in terms of empirical knowledge, information
and skills governed by ethics. Our aspiration lies in going to areas where the
communities are helpless, where the 21st generation facilities have
not reached yet; still there are people who want to do something.
We are currently
focusing our work in Majhi Gaun. But we aim to spread to other
communities and move closer to calling Nepal a 100% educated nation.

Strategic
plan to meet our goal
Educating
Nepal has 9 founding members in the Executive Committee who work in awareness
raising and managing projects of EN. Each EN project comprises a community
taskforce, which looks after the activities of EN projects. The functioning of
Community taskforce is divided into three parts i.e. Community School Board,
Youth Wing and Cooperative (development work). Each of these functioning bodies
is recognized for the sustainability of the school in the project area and for
empowerment of the local people. The Community School Board has been created
with the local people for management of the education system in the project
area. The board manages the hiring of staffs and teachers, providing materials
to the students and running day to day activities of the school among other
works. The youth wing, a congregation of youths of the community are empowered
through various skill oriented trainings or voluntary activities in the project
thereby creating opportunities of self-employment or employment in the project.
The final and one of the major activities of the taskforce is establishment of
cooperative with major objective of securing financial needs of the school and
working for welfare of the community. The aforementioned cooperative examines
the local potential and launches effective agricultural and farming programs
offering employment, business and investment environment. The predetermined
portion of the profit received from the cooperative will be utilized in
managing the school and ICT program so that it will function without the help
of EN in the long run. EN will work for
the inception while the management and sustainability of the community school
will be maintained by the community itself.
This
planning structure will lead to prosperous community through literacy and
developmental activities. After achieving a prosperous community, EN will move
forward to next project following similar structure to inspire other
communities.
History
Our story began in
2058. The credit goes to three people, Mr Hari Krishna Bhattarai, Mr Binod
Basnet and Mr Ashirwad Tripathy. Mr Bhattarai initially started teaching one
child from Majhi Gaun. Later he saw that two more children were
interested. This small personal project turned into a passion in three young
people. They wanted the entire village to open up to education, wisdom and
awareness like these three little ones. Thus began the journey of Educating
Nepal.
Educating Nepal started
in Majhi Gaun. The village is in Bhotsippa-9, Village Development
Committee (VDC) which is located 80 kilometers east of Kathmandu. The distance
is not much but you see real life there.
The entire village had
one only person, Mr Balbahadur Majhi who had graduated 10th grade,
known in Nepal as the School Leaving Certificate (SLC). He was proud of his
achievement and was willing to shoulder the responsibility of giving the same
opportunity to the children in his village. With the help of Educating Nepal,
Balbahadur has been looking after the construction and administration of the school.
